About the role#
The Counseling Intern supports the Health and Wellness department by providing psychotherapy services. You will work under supervision to help individuals in the community lead healthier lives. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position based in Cleveland, Ohio.
What you'll do#
- Shadow and provide psychotherapy services, including mental health assessments and treatment planning.
- Manage a client caseload for psychotherapy sessions.
- Lead group psychotherapy or psychoeducational health and wellness sessions.
- Participate in regular supervision sessions to discuss client care.
- Attend multi-disciplinary team meetings when available.
- Document client interactions according to ODMH and best practice standards.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor degree in psychology, social work, sociology, art therapy, or a related field.
- Current enrollment in a master degree program for social work, counseling, art therapy, or marriage and family therapy.
- Completed coursework in diagnosis, theories, and group process.
- Ability to obtain and maintain CT or SWT status.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A commitment to working cooperatively with team members.
