About the role#
Thales is looking for an Obsolescence Co-op or Intern to join the Reliability team in Ottawa. You will support the long-term reliability and availability of customer assets by identifying, analyzing, and mitigating obsolescence risks. This role offers hands-on experience in reliability engineering and collaboration across departments including procurement and supply chain.
What you'll do#
- Track and monitor component obsolescence throughout product lifecycles.
- Evaluate and implement alternative components to mitigate obsolescence impacts.
- Gather and analyze data regarding component reliability and industry trends.
- Maintain documentation and reports for obsolescence management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support mitigation strategies.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for reliability processes.
- Investigate root causes of reliability issues linked to obsolescence.
- Research industry best practices and new tools for management methodologies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a relevant college or university program, such as Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently with guidance and manage multiple tasks.
- Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
- Prior knowledge of reliability engineering or obsolescence management is an asset.
- Experience with Jira Kanban boards, MS SharePoint, or AI research tools is preferred.
- Previous experience with defense contracts or operational military assets is beneficial.
- Must be eligible for access to hardware, software, or technical information controlled under Canadian and US export regulations, including the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and NATO Secret clearance.
