About the role#
This co-op position supports the integration, verification, and validation of complex defence systems. You will gain hands-on experience with system testing, requirements analysis, test automation, and process improvement. The role involves working on mission-critical systems for land operations, including platforms deployed on vehicles and in headquarters.
What you'll do#
- Support system integration and testing in lab and simulated operational environments.
- Execute verification and validation tasks following established procedures.
- Review and analyze system requirements to confirm testability and maintain verification traceability.
- Assist with the investigation, troubleshooting, and retesting of system defects.
- Contribute to test automation initiatives and quality assurance activities.
- Collaborate with engineers, software developers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Participate in iterative development and structured project team activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Electrical, Computer, Software, or Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and the ability to take ownership of assigned work.
- Experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Java.
- Exposure to test automation frameworks or lab and system testing environments.
- Familiarity with requirements management or defect tracking tools.
- Understanding of system verification and validation processes.
- Exposure to hardware-software interfacing or embedded systems.
- Experience with or familiarity with AI-ML models.
- Enrollment at a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution and eligibility for a co-op work term.
- Ability to meet all applicable security requirements, including obtaining and maintaining a Canadian government security clearance.

- Term: Winter 2027 (8-12 months).

- Employment Type: Full-time co-op.
- Compensation: $24.92 - $33.23 per hour, with eligibility for quarterly pay increases.
