About the role#
This internship focuses on testing the progress of Full Self Driving software. You will help identify safety and performance issues through vehicle-level testing. The role requires full-time, on-site work for a minimum of 12 weeks during the Winter and Spring 2027 terms.
What you'll do#
- Create test strategies to evaluate Full Self Driving features.
- Conduct controlled vehicle testing at proving grounds using robotic platforms, precision instrumentation, and other equipment.
- Build test fixtures and software tools to improve data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Use simulation infrastructure to increase test coverage.
- Examine issues found during testing and work with the AI and Vehicle Firmware teams to implement and validate software changes.
- Maintain test vehicles, which includes handling logistics, repairs, and retrofits.
- Travel to various testing sites as needed.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Computer Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Graduation date between May 2027 and May 2028.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Experience with microcontroller tooling, software and hardware troubleshooting, and data acquisition systems like CAN hardware.
- Background in ADAS testing, vehicle road testing, or DAS system development.
- Ability to multitask and coordinate priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Capacity to interpret regulations and test procedures.
- Strong communication skills for working with internal teams and third parties.
- Valid driver's license.
- A background in motorsports or driving-related hobbies is a plus.
