About the role#
This internship role sits within the Factory Firmware team, acting as a bridge between vehicle and robot software and the manufacturing environment. You will work to improve how software integrates into production, focusing on increasing efficiency, validation, and product quality. The team manages the integration of new software into manufacturing and provides feedback to accelerate feature development. You will handle tasks ranging from embedded code to server-side automation and hardware systems.
What you'll do#
- Identify software improvements to assist in bringing up new products and factories.
- Build tools to diagnose and troubleshoot electronic system issues in vehicles and robots.
- Develop improvements for factory testing infrastructure.
- Design features to optimize manufacturing for rate, quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Gain technical expertise across multiple subsystems to integrate into the manufacturing environment.
- Debug hardware and software interactions during the design, launch, and deployment of products.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering, with a graduation date between May 2027 and May 2028.
- Hands-on experience debugging complex subsystems involving software-controlled electrical or electromechanical devices.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Experience with deploying code to production.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, Docker, and virtual machines.
- Experience developing or integrating multiple software systems.
- A first-principles approach to system design and unfamiliar problems.
- Ability to prioritize time across multiple large-scale projects.
- Experience with Golang, Ruby, or C++ is preferred.

- Location: Palo Alto, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 and Summer 2027.
- Modality: This is a full-time, on-site position requiring 40 hours per week.
- Compensation: $50.06 - $58.89 per hour plus benefits.
