About the role#
As an intern on the Vehicle Software team, you will work with the Fleetnet team to improve the algorithms that manage Tesla Robotaxi operations. You will use statistical analysis and operations research to develop systems for dispatching, matching, and real-time fleet logic. The goal is to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
What you'll do#
- Analyze large-scale fleet data to find ways to improve operational efficiency, such as reducing deadhead miles and pickup times.
- Design and build optimization algorithms for Robotaxi fleet management.
- Work with Fleetnet software engineers to deploy these algorithms at scale.
- Create test plans and tools to measure algorithm efficacy and quality.
- Coordinate with validation teams to prevent regressions and support successful rollouts.
- Communicate analysis results and trade-offs to cross-functional teams and decision makers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Computer Science degree or related field, with a graduation date between May 2027 and May 2028.
- Proficiency in Python and Golang, plus experience with collaborative code development.
- Experience with exploratory statistical analysis and testing on large data sets.
- A strong background in operations research techniques and toolchains.
- Evidence of your ability to design, analyze, and implement optimization schemes for real-world systems from the ground up.
- Ability to work hands-on and collaborate across functions on open-ended projects.
Location & details#
- Location: Palo Alto, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 and Spring 2027.
