About the role#
As an intern on the firmware platforms team, you will write embedded code for processors in Tesla vehicles, energy systems, and robotics. You will work alongside engineers to design and implement firmware that supports our products from initial integration through high-volume manufacturing.
What you'll do#
- Write high-quality C code for real-time embedded environments.
- Design and implement new functionality for embedded subsystems.
- Manage software architecture and firmware implementation from design through testing.
- Perform hands-on hardware and PCBA bring-up.
- Debug systems and optimize code performance.
- Make trade-offs to meet specific product requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Computer Science or related degree program.
- Experience with embedded development, including RTOS, device drivers, and real-time controls.
- Proficiency in C and at least one assembly language.
- Understanding of software fundamentals and design for maintainability.
- Experience with embedded microprocessor toolchains and debuggers.
- Familiarity with test-driven development and automated testing.
- Knowledge of electronics principles and the ability to read schematics.
- Familiarity with advanced testing tools like static analysis or fuzzing.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts to your team.

- Location: Palo Alto, California.
- Term: Winter and Spring 2027.
- Modality: On-site, full-time (40 hours per week).
- Compensation: $42.00 to $58.00 per hour plus benefits.
