About the role#
The Self-Driving Fleet Data team manages data from millions of vehicles to improve neural networks and build analytics for self-driving performance. As an intern, you will contribute to data pipelines that provide metrics for projects like the Full Self-Driving Vehicle Safety Report. You will also identify scenarios from the fleet for training datasets and evaluation.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to end-to-end data pipeline development from fleet ingestion to visualization.
- Define and implement key performance metrics for self-driving systems.
- Analyze real-world driving events to support data-driven decisions.
- Monitor system health using observability tools, log aggregation, and automated checks.
- Build and document reusable developer tools and internal libraries.
- Optimize data flows to improve the volume and timeliness of fleet data.
- Collaborate with AI and software engineering partners to evaluate dataset impact.
- Create interactive dashboards to translate complex data into actionable insights.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program for Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Expected graduation date between May 2027 and May 2028.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience writing clean and efficient code.
- Understanding of the full data lifecycle, including sourcing, ingestion, and transformation.
- Ability to take ownership of projects and work proactively.
Location & details#
- Location: Palo Alto, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 and Spring 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, on-site.
- Compensation: $36.06 - $50.48 per hour plus benefits.
