About the role#
The Tesla Charging team is looking for an intern to join our Cost Reduction team. You will work across the organization to identify and execute initiatives that minimize the cost of deploying and operating the global Supercharger network. This role involves interdisciplinary collaboration to tackle challenges in the clean energy transition.
What you'll do#
- Run rate optimization analyses across Supercharger sites to identify savings and benchmark tariffs.
- Help maximize revenue from government-sponsored fuel credit programs.
- Support analysis of solar and battery storage projects by modeling bill savings and payback periods.
- Build and maintain dashboards and automated reporting tools to monitor energy costs and savings.
- Research and track governmental grant and incentive programs for charging infrastructure.
- Assist in preparing competitive grant applications and RFP responses.
- Develop financial models to quantify the net cost impact of incentive programs.
- Maintain an internal knowledge base of program requirements and deadlines.
- Partner with Finance, Policy, Deployment, and Site Operations teams to drive initiatives.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Identify process improvements and automation opportunities.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Energy Systems, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with large datasets.
- Proficiency in Excel for financial modeling.
- Experience with Python and SQL for data analysis and automation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to distill complex analysis into clear recommendations.
- Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple workstreams.
- Interest in energy, clean technology, EV infrastructure, or sustainability.
- Prior experience or coursework in utility rate analysis, energy economics, project finance, or government grants and policy is helpful.
Location & details#
- Location: Palo Alto, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 and Spring 2027.
- Commitment: Full-time, 40 hours per week, on-site for a minimum of 12 weeks.
- Compensation: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour plus benefits.
