About the role#
The Aerodynamics Engineering team works within the Tesla Design Studio to develop vehicle concepts from initial sketches to final release. You will work alongside designers and engineers to build efficiency, handling, and comfort into new products. This internship offers exposure to the core elements of the aerodynamic development process.
What you'll do#
- Create aerodynamic concepts and technology using CAD software.
- Build and run CFD workflows for evaluation and optimization.
- Support physical testing in the wind tunnel, on the road, and on test benches.
- Document, analyze, and present your technical findings to the team.
- Write software tools to improve development processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Engineering or related degree program.
- Ability to translate technical concepts into performant designs.
- Experience or familiarity with CFD modeling, preferably Star-CCM+.
- Experience with CAD software for 3D surface geometry, ideally Catia or 3DX.
- A curious approach and attention to detail.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site role based in Hawthorne, California.
- The internship runs from Winter 2027 through Spring 2027.
- This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week for a minimum of 12 weeks.
- This position is paid and open to students currently enrolled in an academic program.
