    About the role#

    The Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury offers a 10-week paid internship for students to participate in audit operations. This program runs from June 1 to August 6, 2027. You will work with the Information Systems team and engage with office leaders while gaining experience in government auditing. The role includes professional development activities, networking, and a final cohort presentation.

    What you'll do#

    • Examine and review internal controls, records, reports, financial statements, and information systems.
    • Evaluate the fairness of financial statement presentation and data integrity for application systems.
    • Assess compliance with laws, regulations, contracts, and grant agreements.
    • Collaborate with the Information Systems team and office staff.
    • Participate in professional development activities and deliver a final cohort presentation.

    What you'll need#

    • Standing as a rising junior, senior, or graduate student in accounting, computer science, or business administration.
    • Completion of at least 6 hours of coursework in accounting, computer information systems, computer science, information security, data analytics, or business.
    • Strong interpersonal, verbal communication, organizational, and writing skills.
    • Ability to adapt and think critically.

    Location & details#

    • This position is based in Nashville, Tennessee.
    • The role is on-site and full-time.
    • Compensation is $24 per hour.
    • Limited travel within Tennessee may be required depending on audit assignments.
