About the role#
The Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury offers a 10-week paid internship for students interested in governmental auditing. This program runs from June 1 to August 6, 2027. You will join an active audit team, participate in training, and engage in professional development activities. You will also collaborate with office staff and attend cohort events like business etiquette sessions and networking opportunities.
What you'll do#
- Examine and review records, reports, and financial statements.
- Evaluate the fairness of financial statement presentation.
- Assess the adequacy of internal controls.
- Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of entity operations and systems.
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, contracts, and grant agreements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a rising junior, senior, or graduate student in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Completion of at least 6 credit hours of accounting coursework.
- Strong organizational and writing skills.
- Ability to work well both individually and as part of a team.
Location & details#
- This role is based in Nashville, Tennessee.
- The position is on-site and full-time.
- Some limited travel to audit sites within Tennessee may be required.
- Interns are paid $24 per hour.
