About the role#
The Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury offers a summer internship for students to gain hands-on experience in communications. You will work with the communications team to support internal and external initiatives. This program includes collaboration with other interns across the office through weekly check-ins and professional development activities. The role runs from June 1 to August 6, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Research, create, and update online content like news, feature stories, and graphics.
- Write, proofread, factcheck, and edit various communications materials.
- Interview and photograph staff members.
- Publish content using Adobe Experience Manager.
- Assist with press conferences, media releases, and office events.
- Draft video scripts and help with video production.
- Conduct research for projects and promotional campaigns.
- Handle ad hoc tasks as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a junior, senior, or graduate student in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, or a related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, specifically using AP style.
- Project management experience and knowledge of media and public relations.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet research tools.
- A self-motivated approach and the ability to interact comfortably with new people.
- Experience with photography, video, graphic design, Canva, and Adobe Creative Cloud is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Nashville, Tennessee.
- Modality: This is an on-site, full-time position requiring presence Monday through Friday.
- Compensation: Paid at $24 per hour.
- Travel: Limited in-state day travel may be required, which is reimbursed.
- Requirements: A criminal background check is required for this position.
