About the role#
The Utah Senate Minority Caucus is looking for a communications intern for the 2027 General Legislative Session. This is a full-time, on-site role based at the Capitol in Salt Lake City. You will support the caucus by creating written, visual, and video content for social media, newsletters, and the website. This position is nonpartisan and does not involve campaign or fundraising work. The internship runs from January 4, 2027, through March 12, 2027, with a stipend of $4,100. You will typically work 40 to 50 hours per week, with some evening and weekend hours required during busy periods. Business professional attire is required.
What you'll do#
- Create and manage social media content across various platforms.
- Write and edit newsletters, blog posts, press releases, and other communications materials.
- Research and draft op-eds, talking points, and presentations on policy and legislative topics.
- Photograph and document senators, committee meetings, and legislative events.
- Film, edit, and produce short-form video content.
- Track local and state news coverage.
- Assist with additional communications projects as needed.
What you'll need#

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with graphic design, video editing, photography, or videography is preferred.
- Familiarity with Utah government, public policy, or the legislative process is a plus.
- Current or recent studies in Communications, Political Science, Journalism, or Media Studies.
