    About the role#

    This internship supports the House Minority Staff Director, Policy Advisor, and members of the minority caucus during the 2027 General Legislative Session. You will assist with legislative research and documentation. Please note that this position does not involve fundraising or campaign work for any member of the House of Representatives. Employees in this role serve at the pleasure of the appointing officer in an at-will status.

    What you'll do#

    • Review policy proposals related to draft legislation.
    • Write summaries of proposed legislation.
    • Track key legislation throughout the legislative process.
    • Prepare written reports on the outcomes of key legislation.
    • Complete research projects related to pending legislation.

    What you'll need#

    • Strong research and analytical skills.
    • Technical and concise writing skills with a high level of proficiency in grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
    • Ability to synthesize complex written information into clear, well-reasoned analysis.
    • Ability to respond effectively to feedback and suggestions.
    • Capability to maintain strict confidentiality and trust when working with representatives and staff.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
    • Majors in Political Science, Economics, or related fields.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Capitol Hill, Salt Lake City, Utah.
    • Term: Winter 2027 (mid-January through early March).
    • Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week), with occasional extended hours required.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: A lump-sum stipend of $4,100.
