Student Future Opportunity Stream - Business & Professional Functions - HR, Finance and Accounting

About the role#

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking students for the Future Opportunity Stream, a centralized intake program for roles in Business and Professional functions. This stream allows you to submit one application to be considered for multiple student opportunities across various government departments and agencies. These temporary, full-time positions are designed to provide hands-on experience in a professional environment, helping you apply your classroom learning to meaningful work that supports public services.

What you'll do#

Depending on your background and the specific role, your responsibilities may include:

• Human Resources: Support recruitment and staffing activities, assist with onboarding and training coordination, and maintain employee records.
• Finance: Process payments, review financial documents, assist with budgeting and forecasting, and validate vendor information.
• Accounting: Perform data entry, maintain financial records, and support cash-handling and deposit processes.
• Procurement: Maintain procurement records, analyze data, and assist with sourcing goods and services.
• Business Analysis: Support project management activities, perform research, and contribute to team initiatives.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a postsecondary program related to Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or Human Resources.
• A plan to return to your studies in the next academic term.
• An enthusiastic and motivated approach to learning.
• A desire to gain real-world professional experience and apply academic concepts to practical tasks.

• Term: Summer 2026.
• Work Modality: On-site in various locations across Nova Scotia.
• Employment Type: Full-time, paid student positions.
• Compensation: $16.75 - $31.02 per hour.
