About the role#
As a Field Services Agrologist intern, you will work alongside experienced professional agrologists on a variety of assignments. This role is designed to help you gain the experience necessary to achieve professional agrologist status. You will receive mentorship through the Articling Agrologist Program under the Nova Scotia Institute of Agrologists. As your experience grows, you will take on work of increasing complexity.
What you'll do#
- Monitor and inspect crop fields to evaluate causes of damage.
- Ensure best management practices are being used.
- Conduct yield verifications and assessments.
- Assist with adjusting and calculating crop insurance claims.
- Complete the Articling Agrologist Program under the Nova Scotia Institute of Agrologists.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor's degree in Agriculture or a related field, graduated within the last three years.
- Eligibility for membership as a Professional Agrologist.
- A valid driver's license and your own vehicle.
- Knowledge of management practices for growing crops.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated work ethic.
Location & details#
- Location: Bible Hill, Nova Scotia.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- This position involves frequent travel and outdoor work, including walking over rough terrain in remote locations.
- This is a full-time, paid position.
