About the role#
The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking an Information Technology Student for the Fall 2026 term. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Halifax. The role involves supporting the Safety Branch with database management, documentation, and system procedures.
What you'll do#
- Assist in maintaining and managing the branch database management system.
- Help inspection personnel locate records within the database.
- Create How To documentation for division work activities.
- Learn and support surplus system procedures.
- Work independently to manage tasks and data cleanup.
- Communicate effectively with team members and branch staff.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a post-secondary co-op program.
- Completion of at least the first year of a recognized Information Technology program, with a preference for database administration.
- Eligibility to complete a co-op work term and plans to return to school following the term.
- A strong background in research and a solid understanding of the IT field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
- Experience with Cognos, Tableau, SQL, or Microsoft Power Automate is considered an asset.
