About the role#
Teck Alaska Incorporated is hiring a Metallurgical Engineering Co-op for the Red Dog Operations. This role reports to the Senior Metallurgist and involves an eight-month term. You will work on-site at the mine, which is a major producer of zinc concentrate in the United States.
What you'll do#
- Support metallurgical engineers with ongoing projects.
- Prepare samples in the Bucking Room of the Assay Lab.
- Test sludge and assist with Water Treatment Plant operations.
- Collect water samples for analysis.
- Run flotation laboratory test work and small pilot plant tests.
- Calibrate moisture and sizing equipment.
- Complete small project test work and other related duties.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering degree program.
- Proficiency with MS Office 2010 and Excel.
- Strong communication, organization, and observation skills.
- Ability to use a respirator, as some work occurs in the mill and involves physical activity.
- Prior laboratory or plant experience is helpful but not required.
Location & details#
- Location: Red Dog, Alaska.
- Schedule: Four weeks on-site followed by two weeks off-site.
- Travel: Paid fly-in, fly-out travel is provided.

- Status: This is a paid, full-time, temporary position.
