About the role#
This 12-month co-op position is based at Highland Valley Copper, an open-pit copper and molybdenum mine near Logan Lake, British Columbia. We are looking for students currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution who will remain enrolled throughout the term and return to their studies afterward. This is a full-time, on-site role starting in January 2027.
What you'll do#
- Act as a safety leader by following and promoting all environmental and safety rules.
- Participate in health and safety programs to support a secure work environment.
- Work with engineering and operations teams to develop daily, weekly, and monthly mine plans.
- Engage in mine planning and design tasks, including pit and dump design, production scheduling, and optimization for both autonomous and traditional fleets.
- Provide technical support for drilling, blasting, and surveying activities.
- Monitor operating areas and assist with geotechnical evaluations of mine plans.
- Help track and report on mine permit compliance.
- Perform productivity and economic evaluations while assisting with capital expenditure documentation.
- Develop and test new ideas and technologies to improve business processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program for Mining or Mineral Resource Engineering.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once as a self-starter.
- Comfort working in an industrial setting alongside a variety of technical and operational staff.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for the duration of the term.
- Ability to operate vehicles at our operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

- Compensation: $4,833 to $5,592 per month, depending on experience and skills.
- Additional support: Financial assistance is provided for travel costs and co-op fees.
