About the role#
We are seeking a Student Intern to support construction and engineering projects. You will gain hands-on experience in active construction environments, project planning, and contractor coordination. This role involves working alongside engineers and project professionals to contribute to the delivery of energy infrastructure projects. You will participate in professional development sessions and leadership exposure opportunities throughout the summer.
What you'll do#
- Assist with construction site visits, inspections, and observations.
- Support project requirement assessments, progress monitoring, and safety and quality control activities.
- Collaborate with planners, project coordinators, and engineers on ongoing projects.
- Assist with project cost estimating, subcontractor bid solicitation, and bid analysis.
- Perform material quantity takeoffs and review contractor cost proposals.
- Prepare progress reports, change orders, requests for information (RFIs), and other project documentation.
- Conduct research on construction methods, materials, and industry practices.
- Participate in end-of-program presentations.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Engineering or Construction-related degree program.
- Completion of at least one academic term prior to May 2027.
- Returning to full-time studies immediately following the work term.
- Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) from May 2027 to August 2027.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of project cost estimating, quantity takeoff processes, and construction documentation.
- Experience in construction, engineering, or previous internship environments.
- Willingness to work in active construction site environments.
- Ability to multi-task, analyze information, and navigate ambiguity.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to building relationships with stakeholders.
- A safety mindset and alignment with corporate values.
