About the role#
This is a paid, full-time summer internship designed to prepare you for operations leadership within a Target supply chain facility. You will work on-site, gaining a realistic preview of the Operations Manager role. You will be paired with a mentor to guide your development as you learn to lead, motivate, and influence a team. This role involves hands-on work on the facility floor, where you will help set daily goals and manage department workflows.
What you'll do#
- Lead and support daily operations by working directly alongside team members.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as safety, teamwork, quality, and productivity to drive results.
- Execute process improvement initiatives using continuous improvement methodologies like Gemba and Fish Bone Analysis.
- Facilitate communication between IT and the operations team to resolve system issues.
- Conduct regular safety walks to identify, report, and resolve potential hazards.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or Logistics.
- Participation in school or extracurricular activities, including experience in leadership roles.
- A strong interest in retail and supply chain operations.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and leadership.
- Ability to access all areas of the facility to address operational needs.
- Physical ability to lift or move merchandise frequently up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
