About the role#
The Actuarial Internship Program at Sun Life supports students pursuing a career in the actuarial profession. You will work within a professional environment that encourages exam progress and professional development. This is a paid, part-time summer internship for 2027.
What you'll do#
- Build technical skills and learn core insurance concepts.
- Gain an understanding of product features, contracts, and the insurance business.
- Use technology-based tools to perform analysis and solve problems.
- Complete real entry-level actuarial projects that provide meaningful contributions to your team.
- Present your summer experience to peers, managers, and members of the actuarial community.
- Participate in networking sessions and social activities with other interns.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program, preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Data Science, or Computer Science.
- An expected graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0.
- A demonstrated interest and commitment to the actuarial profession.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual thinking skills.
- The ability to translate complex, abstract concepts and work effectively in a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, VBA, and programming is preferred.
- Previous actuarial internship experience is a plus.

- This internship is a hybrid position.
- You must be located near one of our offices: Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts; Hartford, Connecticut; Kansas City, Missouri; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; or Portland, Maine.
