About the role#
The Merchandising department manages the master product assortment for Staples across all channels, including dotcom and contract business. You will join this team to help bring products to market at the right prices and quantities. You will work alongside groups like Finance, Marketing, Strategy, and Store Operations. This internship provides training through the Merchant Academy and exposure to categories such as technology, furniture, office supplies, and school essentials.
What you'll do#
- Attend vendor meetings to collaborate on business plans and see new products firsthand.
- Manage the setup and maintenance process for SKUs and vendors.
- Work with internal teams and vendors to launch new products and handle price change worksheets.
- Research market trends, gather industry data, and conduct competitive shopping.
- Process markdowns, rebates, coupons, price protection, and RTVs.
- Pull financial reports to help the Buyer conduct weekly and seasonal performance reviews.
- Communicate updates to Planners and Inventory Analysts.
- Respond to emails and calls from sellers and vendors in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with various departments across the company.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in business or marketing.
- You are a full-time student taking at least 12 credits and are a rising senior.
- Your GPA is 3.0 or higher.
- You have strong Microsoft Office skills, including the ability to use Excel pivot tables.
- Previous retail experience is preferred.
- You enjoy working in teams and are comfortable communicating with others.
- You can multitask and adapt to new initiatives.
