About the role#
Staples is hiring Software Engineer Interns for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Framingham, Massachusetts. We are looking for students to join our e-Commerce team. You will work on one of three focus areas: AI, Frontend UI, or Backend development.
What you'll do#
- AI Engineering: Develop and test search algorithms, implement NLP techniques for query understanding, and perform data preprocessing and feature engineering.
- Frontend Engineering: Build and maintain UI components with React.js, integrate Node.js backend APIs, and collaborate with design teams on user experience.
- Backend Engineering: Develop and test e-Commerce backend models, implement Java-based frameworks like Spring Boot or Python-based frameworks, and improve service performance.
- General: All roles involve debugging code, conducting research, and collaborating with team members to improve system performance and scalability.
What you'll need#
- Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, AI, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, Java, or C++. Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and RESTful API integration.
- Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with machine learning libraries like TensorFlow or PyTorch, search platforms like Elasticsearch, and big data tools such as Hadoop or Spark.
- Tools & Workflow: Experience with Git for version control, React.js, Node.js, and database systems like MongoDB or MySQL.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
