About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in our Washington, DC office. You will work under the direct supervision of senior engineers and designers to support projects for public and private sector clients. This role involves 40 hours of work per week and may include some fieldwork.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers and designers with reports, design documents, and calculations.
- Perform engineering calculations using Excel and HVAC design software.
- Create HVAC and plumbing drawings and details using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Apply mechanical engineering principles to solve real-world problems.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on various projects.
- Participate in a Summer Intern Design Project alongside interns from other building design disciplines.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD MEP, Revit, and heat transfer calculations.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems using sound engineering judgment and creativity.
- A strong work ethic and a commitment to safety.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines.
