About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will join our Buildings practice to support government services projects. You will work under the supervision of senior engineers and designers, gaining hands-on experience by contributing to real-world mechanical systems. This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers and designers in preparing technical reports, design documents, and calculations.
- Use HVAC design software and Excel to perform engineering calculations.
- Create HVAC and plumbing drawings and details using Revit.
- Apply fundamental engineering principles to solve project challenges.
- Collaborate directly with project teams on a variety of mechanical assignments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering at an accredited university.
- Working knowledge of Revit and heat transfer calculations.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong problem-solving skills rooted in sound engineering judgment and creativity.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
- A strong work ethic, a desire to learn, and a commitment to safety.
- Ability to manage tasks and meet tight deadlines.

- Location: Glen Allen, Virginia.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Modality: On-site (primarily in an office setting, with potential for some field work).
- Employment: Full-time, paid internship.
