About the role#
As a Family Activity Centre Facilitator at Upper Canada Village, you will serve as a representative of this historic site. You will engage with visitors, orient them to the centre, and animate the exhibits. This role involves leading workshops and demonstrations using historical crafts, music, drama, games, and tools. You will also wear a modern uniform while interacting with guests.
What you'll do#
- Welcome guests and orient them to the Family Activity Centre.
- Lead historical workshops and demonstrations involving crafts, music, drama, and games.
- Assist with Camp Counsellor duties as needed.
- Support school programs during May, June, and September.
- Help with operational tasks like gathering supplies, cleaning, and researching visitor questions.
- Follow all safety protocols and report any unsafe activities to your supervisor.
- Uphold equity, diversity, and inclusion principles when working with staff and guests.
What you'll need#
- Ability to communicate effectively with guests, especially children.
- Knowledge of 19th-century Ontario history.
- Experience or ability to lead workshops and demonstrate historical activities.
- Ability to work well within a team environment.
- Willingness to learn site policies, historical information, and safety procedures.
- A valid emergency first aid certificate or the ability to obtain one.
- Successful completion of a vulnerable service sector check.

- Location: Upper Canada Village, South Dundas, Ontario.
- Term: Summer 2026 (June to August).
- Hours: Up to 36.25 hours per week.
- Salary: $18.45 per hour.
- Work Modality: On-site.
