About the role#
The Behavioural Student supports residents and staff in managing responsive behaviours within the long-term care setting. You will report to the Director of Care and work alongside the Behavioural Support Manager to provide specialized care for residents with dementia or mental health disorders. This is a casual, on-site position based in Strathroy, Ontario.
What you'll do#
- Use person-centered communication to build meaningful connections with residents.
- Collaborate with team members to create, deliver, and report on daily care plans.
- Assist residents in the dining room during meal times.
- Lead activities tailored to the interests of residents with responsive behaviours.
- Ensure all interactions maintain resident dignity and respect.
What you'll need#
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Experience or comfort working with diverse clients.
- Availability to work weekends and statutory holidays.
- Proficiency in a second language is preferred.
- Ability to provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Background Check.
- Two supervisory references.
- Enrollment or background in Psychology, Nursing, Public Health, or Human Resources.
