About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship based in Youngsville, North Carolina, for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on projects that apply mechanical and industrial engineering principles to support our sustainability goals, manufacturing processes, and engineering documentation. You will manage your own project timeline, provide progress updates, and present your final delivery at a senior leadership expo.
What you'll do#
- Design and develop customer-requested cable solution packages.
- Create detailed customer and assembly drawings using SolidWorks.
- Evaluate assembly cell operations to find ways to improve or create new fixtures and jigs.
- Manage the procurement process for these tools, including getting vendor quotes and preparing purchase requests.
- Research industry best practices to build an improved document coordination system for Engineering Change Management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum 2.5 GPA.
- Reliable transportation to and from the work site.
- Experience working in a team environment.
- Skills in systems thinking, process management, organization, and planning.
- Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Awareness of current sustainability issues and industry trends.
