Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

Southern Ohio Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Intern to work under the supervision of pharmacists and the Pharmacy Manager. This role involves assisting with medication preparation, distribution, and inventory management to ensure efficient pharmacy operations and accurate patient billing.

What you'll do#

• Assist pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of medications, including sterile I.V. solutions and parenteral doses.
• Profile physician orders within the computer system for pharmacist review.
• Perform hourly medication deliveries to nursing units and hospital departments.
• Manage inventory by communicating stock levels to the Purchasing Agent, reconciling floor stock, and restocking anesthesia carts.
• Reconcile I.V. and critical care drips on the floor and perform narcotic audits as needed.
• Educate patients on their responsibilities for re-ordering prescriptions and assist with Patient Assistance program applications.
• Enter patient charges and credits into the computer profile system.

What you'll need#

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current enrollment in an approved school of pharmacy.
• Valid PhIL(OH) license.
• No prior experience is required.
