About the role#
Southern Ionics Incorporated offers a Co-Op program for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering. You will work with the corporate engineering team to gain experience in process engineering, product development, research, and project design. This role focuses on training and development regarding safety, quality, and environmental compliance. You may travel up to 30 percent of the time, with expenses covered by the company.
What you'll do#
- Design, assemble, test, and repair pump skids.
- Manage the engineering and testing of bench, pilot, and full-scale equipment.
- Create process-flow diagrams, parts lists, and project estimates.
- Gather, analyze, and present statistical data from existing processes.
- Tabulate and report on operational efficiencies.
- Collect and report results on process streams for environmental permit compliance.
- Train for and perform plant tasks, including forklift and heavy equipment operation.
- Implement plant improvements like SOP revisions and equipment change outs.
- Provide mentorship to junior Co-Ops.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program for engineering.
- Ability to perform physical tasks around industrial equipment.
- Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment, including a respirator, hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, safety boots, and hearing protection.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Location & details#
- Location: West Point, Mississippi.
- Schedule: Full-time.
- Compensation: Paid position with a 0.50 dollar increase for each semester completed after the first.
- Availability: Hiring for terms beginning Fall 2027 and Spring 2028.
