About the role#
As a Process Engineer Intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers and manufacturing professionals to improve the performance, reliability, and efficiency of chemical production processes. You will take ownership of projects from concept through execution, gaining hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment while delivering measurable business results. This role involves analyzing production data, identifying improvement opportunities, and implementing solutions that enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and reduce operating costs.
What you'll do#
- Analyze production and equipment performance data to identify drivers of downtime and losses.
- Conduct root cause investigations and implement corrective actions in collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, and Reliability teams.
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs through waste reduction and optimization of raw materials and utilities.
- Develop business cases and financial benefit analyses to support project recommendations.
- Support quality improvement initiatives to reduce the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) and improve product consistency.
- Charter, scope, and execute engineering projects, including developing plans and tracking milestones.
- Present project recommendations and findings to site leadership.
- Collect and analyze production, quality, and cost data to identify trends.
- Collaborate across Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Quality, EHS, and Engineering teams.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate technical data.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Coursework or project experience in manufacturing processes, statistics, process control, or continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with data visualization, reporting tools, or engineering software is helpful.

- Location: Friendly, West Virginia.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site, full-time (40 hours per week).
- Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour.
