About the role#
This Civil Engineering Co-op position is a full-time, on-site role based in Macomb, Michigan. The assignment begins in mid-February and continues through late August. You will start with an orientation and training period, followed by hands-on work alongside full-time team members. You will gain exposure to consulting engineering practices and interact with contractors and design professionals.
What you'll do#
- Support field construction quality control activities.
- Assess and evaluate project materials, including soils, concrete, and asphalt.
- Assist engineering staff with field evaluations and quality control testing.
- Help ensure adherence to project specifications.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering.
- A valid driver's license, a good driving record, and experience driving in the U.S.
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions and on uneven ground.
- Ability to sit, stand, stoop, or kneel for long periods.
- Capacity to lift and carry equipment and samples weighing up to 50-60 pounds.
- Basic computer literacy for field work and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
- An enthusiasm for learning and a strong focus on safety.
