About the role#
Smarty is hiring Software Engineer Interns to join our technology team in Orem, Utah. You will work with a team of engineers to build and integrate our business backend and API products. This is a paid, on-site internship running from January 2027 through mid-August 2027. We require a minimum of 15 hours per week during the winter and spring terms, with the possibility of increased hours during the summer.
What you'll do#
- Develop high-quality software, applications, and tools using clean and efficient code.
- Analyze existing code to identify the root cause of errors and perform necessary revisions.
- Conduct validation and verification testing.
- Automate tasks using appropriate tools and scripting.
- Participate in company cultural initiatives.
- Collaborate with your co-workers and contribute to a positive office environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
- Practical experience in software development gained through class projects or prior internships.
- Familiarity with relational databases.
- Hands-on experience with programming languages such as Go, Java.NET, Python, Ruby, PHP, or server-side Javascript.
- Strong organizational skills and a problem-solving mindset.
