About the role#
The Skirball Cultural Center is hiring four undergraduate students as advisory fellows. You will help shape a new exhibition opening in 2029 that explores the Jewish American experience. This is a two-year commitment starting in October 2026. You will work with curators, educators, and scholars to develop exhibition content, design, and interactive components. The fellowship includes a $1,000 stipend per academic year and a two-year Skirball membership.
What you'll do#
- Serve as an advisor to contribute to the exhibition and its educational components.
- Participate in professional development workshops led by an audience development researcher.
- Co-facilitate focus groups and lead peer-to-peer feedback sessions with groups such as the Skirball Teen Advisory Committee.
- Meet virtually approximately 8 times per academic year on Zoom.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time undergraduate student in a Bachelor or Associate degree program.
- Completion of at least one semester or two quarters of college by June 2027.
- Residency in or connection to Los Angeles, as formative experience in the city is essential to the exhibition story.
- Status as a United States citizen, permanent resident, or DACA recipient.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to solve problems independently and work well with others.
- Interest in museum studies, education, history, sociology, or communications.
- An active interest in the Jewish American experience.
Location & details#
This fellowship is primarily remote with meetings held on Pacific Standard Time. Occasional in-person meetings may occur at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles during winter or summer breaks. This position is open to students from all areas of undergraduate study, including community college, trade school, and university programs.
