About the role#
Experience firsthand what it is like to lead a retail team within a Target store. This paid, 40-hour per week internship is a hands-on training program designed to prepare you for store leadership. You will receive a realistic preview of the Executive Team Leader role by working closely with mentors and store managers to understand how our retail business functions. This role involves spending your time on the salesfloor and in the backroom, where you will lead team members, identify store priorities, and deliver an exceptional guest experience.
What you'll do#
- Spend time on the salesfloor and in the backroom leading team members and aligning them on daily business priorities.
- Work alongside your Executive Team Lead mentor to gain an understanding of their role.
- Lead through daily tasks such as stocking shelves, building displays, and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment.
- Partner with leaders to coach, train, and provide performance feedback to team members.
- Address team member concerns and remove hurdles to ensure smooth operations.
- Lead or present at daily huddles with your peer and leadership team.
- Provide a summary of results and priorities to leadership.
- Review business reports and guest insights to troubleshoot and follow up on opportunities.
- Deliver an exceptional guest experience by ensuring team members are knowledgeable and empowered.
What you'll need#
- A strong interest in working in retail management.
- Leadership skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Effective communication skills.
- The ability to manage your workload and prioritize tasks independently.
- An openness to working a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Previous retail experience is preferred but not required.
- The ability to learn and adapt to technology needs.
- Majors in Business Administration, Marketing, Psychology, or Communications are relevant to this role.

- This is an on-site, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
