About the role#
We are looking for a News Intern to join our team for the Fall 2026 term. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a real newsroom environment by contributing to broadcast and digital storytelling. You will work directly with reporters, anchors, producers, and photographers to inform our community.
What you'll do#
- Research, write, and produce news stories for broadcast and digital platforms.
- Work alongside newsroom staff in the office and out in the field.
- Pitch fresh story ideas to help shape local coverage.
- Learn to shoot video and frame compelling visuals.
- Gain exposure to control room operations and live broadcast procedures.
What you'll need#
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, or a recent graduate.
- At least a sophomore at an accredited college or university.
- Pursuing a degree in Communications, Journalism, or Media Studies.
- Eligible to work in the United States.
- Reliable transportation.
- A focus on local news, storytelling, and community impact.
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, part-time, on-site internship located at WPEC in West Palm Beach, Florida.
- You must be available to work approximately 15 hours per week for 10 weeks.
- The start date is between August 24 and September 14, 2026.
