About the role#
SimIS Inc. is seeking an Information Systems and Cyber Security Artificial Intelligence Specialist Intern to support our network infrastructure and security operations. You will work on-site in Suffolk, Virginia, to maintain our computer systems while developing new tools to automate cybersecurity processes. This role involves both hands-on hardware management and software development tasks.
What you'll do#
- Support the provisioning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of network and computer systems.
- Ensure IT infrastructure integrity and cybersecurity compliance according to the Risk Management Framework NIST 800 series.
- Develop and train artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to automate cybersecurity workflows.
- Design, build, and maintain system integrations using REST/JSON, webhooks, and OAuth2/API keys.
- Perform system monitoring and backup operations for hardware, network, server, and cloud resources.
- Research and recommend automated approaches for system administration tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore, junior, senior, or master's student at a Virginia college.
- Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Mathematics, Statistics, or Data Science.
- Ability to conduct technical troubleshooting and creative problem-solving.
- Fluency in English with strong written and oral communication skills.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship position located on-site in Suffolk, Virginia.
- The role requires daily attendance at our office, and you must provide your own transportation.
