About the role#
The Management and Sales Summer Internship is a paid, 10-12-week program based in Detroit, Michigan. It offers hands-on experience in retail store operations, sales, and management. You will gain insight into a career in outside sales by traveling with a Sales Representative and working directly with your management team. Interns also complete a team-based project that addresses a real business challenge or store initiative.
What you'll do#
- Provide friendly and professional assistance to customers in-store and over the phone.
- Maintain product displays and recommend items that meet customer needs.
- Develop a strong understanding of store merchandise to answer inquiries and ensure inventory accuracy.
- Restock shelves, manage inventory, and assist with visual merchandising.
- Process point-of-sale transactions, prepare and mix products, and handle general store maintenance.
- Unload deliveries, organize stockrooms, and maintain efficient inventory flow.
- Participate in required training and follow store policies.
- Support team members with customer concerns and shared tasks.
- Collaborate with other interns to deliver a project focused on business challenges.
What you'll need#
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Must be enrolled in a college or university as a rising or current Junior or Senior.
- Pursuing a degree in Business Administration or Marketing.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 70 lbs on occasion.
- Willingness to work scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Valid, unrestricted Driver’s License.
- At least one year of experience in delivery, retail, or customer service.
- Previous experience in a team-oriented setting.
- Ability to communicate in more than one language, including Spanish.
- If currently employed by Sherwin-Williams, you must have a meets expectations rating on your most recent performance appraisal and have completed all required HR Cloud eLearning courses.
