About the role#
The Management and Sales Internship is a paid 10-12 week summer program based in Indianapolis. This role provides hands-on experience in retail store operations, sales, and management. You will gain insight into outside sales by shadowing a Sales Representative and working closely with store leadership. Interns also collaborate on a team-based project that addresses a real business challenge or store initiative.
What you'll do#
- Provide friendly assistance to customers in-store and over the phone to ensure a positive experience.
- Recommend products to meet customer needs and contribute to sales goals.
- Develop a strong understanding of store merchandise to answer inquiries and maintain inventory accuracy.
- Restock shelves, manage inventory, and contribute to visual merchandising.
- Assist with point-of-sale transactions, product mixing, and general store maintenance.
- Unload deliveries and organize stockrooms to ensure efficient inventory flow.
- Participate in training and follow store policies regarding safety, HR guidelines, and loss prevention.
- Support team members in resolving customer concerns and completing shared tasks.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- You must be a current or rising Junior or Senior enrolled in a college or university, specifically in Business Administration or Marketing.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs frequently and 70 lbs on occasion.
- Willingness to work scheduled hours, which may include evenings and weekends.
- A valid, unrestricted Driver’s License.
- At least one year of experience in a delivery, retail, or customer service role.
- Previous experience in a team-oriented setting, such as extracurricular activities or military service.
- Ability to communicate in more than one language, with Spanish proficiency preferred.
- If currently employed by Sherwin-Williams, you must have a "meets expectations" rating on your most recent performance appraisal and have completed all required HR Cloud eLearning courses.
