About the role#
This is a paid cooperative education position within the Business Technology department. You will assist staff with information systems administration, network infrastructure, and security processes. The role involves gaining hands-on experience with our computer applications and internal systems to complete technical assignments efficiently.
What you'll do#
- Provide hardware and software support while assisting with network communications.
- Monitor control systems to ensure reliable operation and identify cyber security vulnerabilities.
- Support the Help Desk by resolving problem tickets and responding to support requests.
- Collect and review daily data, logs, and alarms to meet NERC compliance reporting requirements.
- Assist with patch management, program development, and various technology projects.
- Participate in meetings and working groups related to your assigned projects.
- Maintain documentation and communicate project status to stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor degree program for Computer Science, Engineering, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or Cybersecurity.
- Minimum enrollment of six credit hours per semester and a 2.75 GPA.
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office, and basic networking principles.
- Knowledge of programming languages such as Java, C++, or PowerShell.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on detail.
- A valid driver license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
- Ability to work approximately 20 hours per week.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Tampa, Florida.
- Work is performed on-site.
- Some travel to the Backup Control Center or generating stations may be required.
