About the role#
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is seeking an Engineering Support Aide for the Winter 2027 term. This internship is based within the Department of Subways, specifically the Elevators and Escalators Division. You will support the maintenance and oversight of subway infrastructure, including hundreds of elevators and escalators across the system. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Brooklyn, New York.
What you'll do#
- Provide insights and recommendations to support technical requirements for internal stakeholders.
- Install project-specific software and files on laptops and shared drives.
- Manage a tracking system for inventory deliverables, such as tools and manuals.
- Coordinate with third-party contractors to digitize existing operations and maintenance manuals.
- Review equipment drawings and specifications to provide feedback to project managers.
- Gather and organize data for engineering tasks and assist with ad hoc department analysis.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program with at least a 2.5 GPA.
- Preferred majors include Computer Science, Business Administration, Data Science, or Architecture.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team while managing pressure and priorities.
