    About the role#

    As a Naval Architecture Intern, you will support the Manager, Naval Architecture in completing design, analysis, and production support activities. This position provides hands-on exposure to ship design, engineering, and construction within a complex shipbuilding environment. You will assist in the execution of various project phases.

    What you'll do#

    • Support the development, review, and tracking of design deliverables, drawings, calculations, technical reports, and specifications.
    • Assist with stability, weight management, arrangement development, and performance analyses.
    • Coordinate the flow of technical information between engineering disciplines, production teams, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
    • Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and technical discussions, while documenting actions and following up on tasks.
    • Assist with surveying to verify design compliance.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering tools, processes, templates, and best practices.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to help ensure technical requirements, schedules, and project objectives are achieved.
    • Maintain accurate engineering records and support document control activities.

    What you'll need#

    • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related discipline, or accepted into a Master’s degree program in Naval Architecture.
    • Eligibility to meet the criteria for Reliability and Controlled Goods Security Clearance.
    • Passion for shipbuilding and interest in implementing Naval Architecture concepts within a production environment.
    • Comfort working in a heavy industrial setting.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience and proficiency with CAD/CAM software such as AutoCAD, Rhino 3D, Cadmatic, GHS, ShipWeight, NAPA, ShipMo, or similar tools.
    • Excellent digital literacy, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Ability to take initiative, manage competing priorities, and work both independently and collaboratively.

    Location & details#

    • Location: North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
    • Modality: This position is fully on-site.
    • Term: Winter 2027 (January 5, 2027, to April 30, 2027).
    • Employment: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
    • Compensation: This is a paid internship at $28.00 per hour.
