About the role#
This internship offers a chance to learn how environmental regulations and sustainability initiatives function within a manufacturing environment. You will work alongside the corporate environmental engineer to identify and implement improvements across company facilities. This role provides exposure to energy and water conservation, wastewater treatment, waste reduction, and sustainability reporting.
What you'll do#
- Identify and prioritize opportunities to reduce water and energy use.
- Perform waste stream audits and measure the impact of diversion projects.
- Research emerging environmental and sustainability regulations.
- Present findings and recommendations to organizational leaders.
- Conduct hazardous waste, stormwater, air emission, and chemical audits.
- Create standard operating procedures and visual indicators for sustainability initiatives.
- Support the evaluation of sustainability practices across the supply chain.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemistry, physics, or a related technical or life sciences field.
- Completion of sophomore year prior to the start of the internship.
- Basic understanding of functional and design criteria for utility systems like electricity, natural gas, and water.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- A valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and a personal vehicle.

- Location: Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
- Work modality: Hybrid, including on-site work Monday through Thursday and optional remote Fridays.
- Employment type: Full-time.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship.
