About the role#
This internship is a summer 2027 position based in Wilmington, Delaware. You will join a project team within the Nuclear Power Group to support the design of new power plants and the upgrade of existing systems. You will work under the direction of experienced engineers to apply your academic knowledge to real-world structural engineering projects.
What you'll do#
- Prepare engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
- Review structural design drawings and vendor documentation.
- Perform structural analysis and design for steel frames, connections, concrete members, foundations, and support systems for equipment and piping.
- Use automation and AI tools to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.
- Apply engineering judgment to verify results when using agentic AI or scripting for calculations and reporting.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering.
- A strong academic background in material behavior, structural analysis, structural steel design, reinforced concrete design, and foundation design.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of programs such as MathCad, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, SAFE, GT STRUDL, or ANSYS is helpful but not required.
- Experience with programming or scripting languages like Python or MATLAB is valued.

- Compensation: $18.00 to $30.00 per hour.
