About the role#
This co-op position joins the Biologics Design and AI team to work on the intersection of Large Language Models and biophysical protein predictive models. You will help build agentic workflows that reason over structural data and map protein sequences to therapeutic properties. This project aims to accelerate the biologics pipeline through intelligent, automated design.
What you'll do#
- Fine-tune conversational, natural language LLMs to interface with and reason over data from specialized protein prediction models.
- Adapt human-language models to comprehend protein sequences, structural embeddings, and biophysical constraints using parameter-efficient techniques.
- Build hybrid architectures to improve the accuracy of antibody and nanobody property predictions.
- Partner with experimental protein engineers and computational biologists to define agent objectives and validate model predictions.
- Present methodologies, insights, and model performance to cross-functional R&D teams.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Master’s or PhD program in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, or a related field.
- Graduation date planned for Spring 2027 or 2028.
- Permanent authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for employment visa sponsorship.
- Strong programming skills in Python and standard data science libraries.
- Hands-on experience with LLM fine-tuning methodologies and orchestration frameworks.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
- Familiarity with biological data, protein sequences, 3D structures, and tools like AlphaFold or Rosetta.
- Basic domain knowledge in immunology, structural biology, or biophysics.
- Previous project or industry experience applying NLP or LLMs to complex, scientific problems.
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English.
Location & details#
- Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Modality: On-site.
- Enrollment: Must remain enrolled in an accredited university throughout the duration of the co-op.
