About the role#
The Accelerated Sanford Student Nurse Internship Program provides a paid learning experience for nursing students. This role focuses on building clinical confidence and competence to help you transition into a licensed nursing career. You will work one-on-one with an experienced nurse preceptor to gain hands-on experience in a hospital setting. The program offers flexible scheduling, requiring 12 to 36 hours per month to accommodate your academic workload.
What you'll do#
- Provide direct and indirect patient care under the guidance of a mentor.
- Support patients through preventative care, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up phases.
- Follow population-specific patient care protocols and policies based on physical and psychological needs.
- Assist with daily department activities.
- Develop communication skills and gain insight into the professional responsibilities of a licensed nurse.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in the SDSU Accelerated Nursing Program.
- Enrollment in an accredited RN program, either associate or bachelor level.
- Participation in a prior academic clinical experience.
