About the role#
Samsung Research America is seeking a PhD candidate for a Fall 2026 internship within the Digital Health Algorithms team. This role focuses on developing innovative technologies for wearable, mobile, and cloud-based platforms. You will work on creating digital biomarkers and interventions to assist clinicians and patients in managing health conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and mental health.
What you'll do#
- Develop novel and disruptive algorithms for digital health services and solutions.
- Design, implement, and optimize advanced AI models, including self-supervised learning, for health applications.
- Work with large-scale time-series datasets to train and fine-tune machine learning and deep learning models using AWS AI services.
- Contribute to the development of novel AI methodologies to address complex healthcare challenges.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program for computer science, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
- Solid coding skills with prototyping experience in AI model development, data science, and machine learning.
- Experience in physiological signal processing and large-scale time-series data analytics in the digital health domain.
- Strong knowledge of developing AI/ML foundation models and their fine-tuning approaches.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, C/C++, Java, or Android.
