About the role#
S&B is looking for a Civil/Structural Engineer Intern to handle routine and moderately complex design tasks. You will work under general supervision to build your technical knowledge. The role involves executing interconnected design tasks using established procedures and standards. You may occasionally visit operating plants or construction sites to support field assignments.
What you'll do#
- Prepare design and construction drawings from sketches or verbal instructions.
- Create sketches and perform calculations for specific project segments.
- Update computer lists and perform basic engineering calculations.
- Proofread reports and documentation.
- Use vendor prints, catalogs, and technical manuals to support project work.
- Support field assignments as needed.
- Use manual or computer-assisted drafting and design techniques.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor degree program for Civil or Structural Engineering at an accredited college or university.
- Completion of at least two years of undergraduate studies.
- Working knowledge of computer software packages and automated engineering equipment.
- Ability to read safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to perform mathematical tasks including geometry, trigonometry, and statistical inference.
- Previous internship experience is preferred but not required.
